The roadrunners (genus Geococcyx), also known as chaparral birds or chaparral cocks, are two species of fast-running ground cuckoos with long tails and crests. They are found in the southwestern and south-central United States and Mexico,[1][2] usually in the desert. Some have been clocked at 32 km/h (20 mph) while a few have also been clocked up to 43 km/h (27 mph).
I'm a Roadrunner. I'm a 23-inch long powerhouse. I don't fly much, but race around the ground instead. I'm a meat eater, if you don't mind calling insects, lizards and snakes "meat."

Don't mess with this bird. I can use my sharp beak to stab a snake. When I catch lizards, I smack 'em on a rock so they'll keep quiet when I gulp them down whole. And grasshopper? I catch them in midair!

I have powerful legs that carry me up to fifteen miles an hour. That's pretty fast for a bird on foot. I have a long tail which I shift around like an airplane rudder to help me steer when I'm really cruising.

"Catch me if you can," I cry, When danger's drawing near For my legs are strong, My endurance long, And my tail will help me steer.

I'm quick to snack a snake or two While running in a race 'Cause I'll need to keep my strength up As I try to keep the pace.

A rock is all I need To whip my dinner into shape I take control and eat it whole Before it can escape.

I'm a Long-Tongued Bat, one of the smallest of the bats. In some ways I have a similar job to be a bee or a hummingbird.
