Mountain Goat
The mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus), also known as the Rocky Mountain goat, is a hoofed mammal endemic to North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice.

Despite its vernacular name, it is not a member of Capra, the genus that includes all other goats, such as the wild goat, Capra aegagrus, from which the domestic goat is derived. The mountain goat was used as the emblem of the Great Northern Railway, until its merger with other James J Hill railroads forming Burlington Northern in 1970.

I am a sure-footed Rocky Mountain Goat! Some of us weigh almost 300 pounds. My sharp hooves have soft pads in the middle which act like suction cups to help me stay on the rocks.

I spend my whole life grazing on the high cliffs. When my kids are born, they stand on their own in just a few minutes! Within a few days, they can follow me over the steep slopes.

This sounds a bit weird, but I have four stomachs! There's not a lot of food high up in the mountains, so all my stomachs stay extra busy squeezing all the nutrition they can out of whatever food I can find.

On cloven hoof I go To climb with kids in tow To find at last The tender grass That'll soon be steeped in snow.

The tiny clumps of green Atop the cliffs serene Four stomachs see Before they're free As mountaintop cuisine.

It is  monotypic  within the genus  Choeronycteris . [2]  The species is found in  El Salvador ,  Guatemala ,  Honduras ,  Mexico , and the  United States . I'm a Long-Tongued Bat, one of the smallest of the bats. In some ways I have a similar job to be a bee or a hummingbird. My nose might look long and funny, but, hey, I have to keep my tongue somewhere! Like other bats I fly at night looking for food. But my food is the nectar from cactus and agave flowers which I slurp up with my long tongue. It only takes a second to visit each flower. That makes me one busy bat.
