The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), also known as the North American brown bearor simply grizzly, is a large population or subspecies[1] of the brown bear inhabiting North America.

In addition to the mainland grizzly (Ursus arctos horribilis), other morphological forms of brown bear in North America are sometimes identified as grizzly bears. These include two living populations — the Kodiak bear (U. a. middendorffi) and the peninsular grizzly(U. a. gyas) — as well as the extinct California grizzly (U. a. californicus†), Mexican grizzly (U. a. nelsoni†), and Ungava-Labrador grizzly (U. a. ungavaesis†). On average, grizzly bears near the coast tend to be larger while inland grizzlies tend to be smaller.

The Ussuri brown bear (U. a. lasiotus), inhabiting Russia, Northern China, Japan, and Korea, is sometimes referred to as the "black grizzly", although it is no more closely related to North American brown bears than other subspecies of brown bear around the world.

I'm a Grizzly Bear. I'm eight feet long and 800 pounds. I'm named for my corase, "grizzled" brown fur. Even through I'm tough enough to catch a moose, more often I'll just eat small stuff like fish, bugs and berries.

I'm one heck of a fisherman. The fish are quick, but I'm just a little bit quicker. I watch 'em go by and if my timing is just right... Powl Man, I love fresh salmon!

When winter's on its way, I eat a lot so's I can put on some fat. Then I crawl inside a cozy den and take life real slow for a few months. And when I'm that relaxed, I don't like to be bothered. Got that?

Salmon don't have a prayer When I spring from my lair No need to steal A rod and reel I'll catch 'em with paws bare.

When the snow begins the fall I curl up in a ball And count my sheep Through months of sleep Till I hear the wild call.

It is  monotypic  within the genus  Choeronycteris . [2]  The species is found in  El Salvador ,  Guatemala ,  Honduras ,  Mexico , and the  United States . I'm a Long-Tongued Bat, one of the smallest of the bats. In some ways I have a similar job to be a bee or a hummingbird. My nose might look long and funny, but, hey, I have to keep my tongue somewhere! Like other bats I fly at night looking for food. But my food is the nectar from cactus and agave flowers which I slurp up with my long tongue. It only takes a second to visit each flower. That makes me one busy bat.
